While there are tons of reports stating that The Heirs 2 might be out in the public sometime this year, fans are greatly disappointed because the original lead stars might not be returning to the set. Rumors have it that Descendants of the Sun stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo might replace Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye.
Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo to Replace Original Cast in The Heirs 2!
Although it is still unconfirmed whether the popular Korean drama will have a sequel, many are ecstatic to witness a new story. It is reported that the second installment may still take place sans the presence of lead man, Lee Min Ho. The show will allegedly be ushering in Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki to take the roles of the original actors.
Given the success of the pair in the last year’s smash hit Descendants of the Sun, there are speculations claiming that the drama will bring the two together once more in a project that will surely result in another phenomenal hit. Nevertheless, the talks about Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s reunion in The Heirs 2 are nothing more than rumors at this time.
The reports came after the news that Lee Min Ho will have to start his two-year military service in South Korea this year. The Legend of the Blue Sea star explained, “If I had gone to the military earlier, I would’ve missed out on starring in Boys Over Flowersand often think whether or not I could’ve truly enjoyed my life in the 20s.
“I personally feel I made the right decision to not go to the army earlier. Because of that, I was able to meet with numerous loving and supportive fans overseas. I was happy to see the Korean Wave spread out to various parts of the world.” It makes perfect sense for the pair to not be part of the second installment if ever the speculations are true.
Descendants of the Sun Will Be Picked Up for Season 2!
Meanwhile, it is reported that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will reprise their roles as Captain Yoo Shin-jin and doctor Kan Mo-Yeon in the second series of Descendants of the Sun. Rumors have it that the pair is very much excited to return to the set as they are to portray as a married couple in the story.
It is suggested that the two will be putting a ring on their relationship in the up and coming sequel. Both of them have yet to confirm the news about The Heirs 2 and the Descendants of the Sun 2 so everyone should then take it with a grain of salt.
